The following is a brief list of companies and industries
P. Feiner & Sons,
Inc. has provided solutions for...
Hi Tech
Box Hill Systems
Box Hill Systems was a leader in the computer storage
industry until merging with another hi tech firm and relocating
their operation to Silicon Valley. Our relationship with
Box Hill perhaps exemplifies what we do best here at Feiner.
This company's primary problem was that there were a number
of off the shelf devices available to them at very attractive
prices, however the manufacturers they were dealing with
were unable or unwilling to work with their engineers in
making changes or specific products to meet their individual
needs.
Our design engineers began working
immediately with Box Hills engineering department and
designed a unit
which would house up to five hot swappable drives and
all of the associated housings and hardware. After a
few years utilizing the “Tower” units, we then joined forces to create
the “Mod Box”. This unit functioned similarly to the
Tower units however required a fraction of the space
and of course utilized a much sleeker design. Once again,
after building a series of prototypes and models, we
began fabrication of units. As with the Tower Units before
them, Feiner not only manufactured the units, we also
assembled them and shipped them on a weekly basis. With
blanket releases of anywhere from 5,000 to 30,000 units
per scheduled delivery release, we were able to meet
and or exceed our customers ever changing delivery requirements.
The third and final version of the Box Hill product prior
to their merger was the Fiber Box. This unit, once again
smaller yet more powerful and needless to say faster, utilized
the new fiber optic technology. As with our previous experience,
working at the ground floor with the company's engineers
helping to design a quality product which functions well
in a variety of environments and can be manufactured in
a timely fashion for a reasonable amount of money are the
key elements to Feiner's success with our business partners.
Medical
Vernitron Instrument
Vernitron was a manufacturer of
medical sterilizes as well as a variety of other medical
devices. Feiner's primary
product for this company was a sterilizer chamber manufactured
out of stainless steel, highly polished, with steel burst
bars welded along the length of the unit. These units
were used in medical offices and hospital environments
to sterilize
instruments and various other medical devices.
Printing
MAN Roland
Wood
Industries was purchased by MAN Roland, a German conglomerate
in the mid 1990's. Wood manufactured high-speed
offset printing presses primarily for the newspaper printing
industries. This equipment was sold worldwide, and Feiner
was one of the principal suppliers of sheet metal guards,
shields, etc. Feiner supplied Aluminum Mist Guards, Side
and End covers, as well as numerous other items, from
spring finger clamps to machine enclosures for MAN, Wood
Industries.
Rolor Scientific
George Hantscho
Hantscho was located in Mount Vernon, NY
before being purchased by Rockwell International and moved
initially
to York, PA. Hantscho manufactured a variety of four-color
printing presses, primarily for use in the high end printing
industry. We manufactured various guards and consoles
for Hantscho for use on their printing lines. One of the
attached
photos depicts a Hantcho printing line with a number
of orange cabinets manufactured by Feiner.
F.L. Smithe Machine
Smithe is a manufacturer of envelope
manufacturing equipment and is one of Feiner's oldest
customers. Generations
of Feiner's always joked that Great Grandpa Smithe and
Great Grandpa Feiner came to America on the same boat.
To this date Feiner manufactures or repairs parts originally
made for Smithe in the 50's & 60's.
Transportation
New York City Transit
Over the years we have manufactured
a number of items for the transit authority. Items that
range from seat
backing for city busses to heat shields for various other
transportation venues. You can find work by Feiner as
you enter many a subway station in Manhattan. Perhaps,
as you take the cross-town bus or the A train to Yankee
stadium you will run across some sheet metal work fabricated
by P. Feiner & Sons.
Sikorsky Helicopter
Having the opportunity to work with Sikorsky over the
years has been an exciting adventure for us. Our latest
project involved a large amount of structural steel tubing,
where we manufactured a platform and steel canopy which
were used in developing training methods and standards
for in-flight refueling of various aircraft. Manufacturing
to Sikorsky's exacting standards and both meeting and
exceeding their aggressive QC requirements proved both
challenging
and rewarding.
Marine
We manufacture a variety of items for
the shipbuilding industry. From reefer storage shelving
units to small arms lockers we have been supporting this
marketplace for close to 50 years. We have outfitted
FFG's and Oil Rigs as well as supplying joiner shapes
for numerous cruise ships and military vessels. From
access doors to stainless steel galley equipment, from
pyrotechnic lockers to window casings, we have vast experience
in this environment. In addition to shelving, we supply
pistol lockets, life jacket lockers, and a large array
of other lockers and storage equipment for the marine
environment.
Cultural
We at P. Feiner & Sons
consider ourselves fortunate to have executed sculptures
and
various works of art
for a number of world-renowned artists. We
have enjoyed a long working relationship with Mme. Madeline
Lejwa
who along with Mme. Jean Arp had Feiner produce a number
of large works by Jean Arp which can be seen in various
museums around the world. Whether in Basil, Switzerland,
the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, or a town
square in Paris, works by Arp which have been fabricated
by Feiner are available for your viewing pleasure.
In addition to works by Jean Arp, we have manufactured
work for a number of other famous artists as well. Works
by William King manufactured by Feiner can be seen in
the permanent collection of the Storm King art Center.
Works
by Sol Lewitt and Jennifer Bartlett manufactured by Feiner
can be seen at various museums around the country. Additionally,
Feiner boasts works by Kurt Delbanco, Paul Sisko, and
Richard Shore to name but a few additional artists whose
artwork
Feiner has had the good fortune to produce.
Manufacturing
In addition to building machinery components for the
printing industry, we also manufacture a significant
amount of machine parts for manufacturers of slitting
machinery. Slitting machines are used for slitting anything
from foils, film, paper, or the Listerine breathe strips
you might use. The machinery is basically the same, and
Feiner has manufactured components such as guards, trays,
enclosures, feeders and the like for this type of equipment.
